I received this complaint from Todd Cenoz.
I went in to Acadian Rehab, Inc on a referral. I had to wait for a few minutes as the receptionist Christine was talking to another older woman there about her dog. Her dog that she had to put outside, as there was no way, according to this Christine the dog was coming inside. It is at or below freezing here at night. Christine mentioned she has no shelter for this dog during cold or hot. Another patient who was also waiting mentioned that according to the Human Society, owner of outside animals should spend a freezing night out and a boiling hot day out with their dogs as dogs have the same temperature tolerances people do. Christine looked incredulous at that comment. Then she shrugged and said well too bad, as the dog is not coming in the house.
That sounds like animal abuse to me.
That patient was then seen. Christine then kept complaining about her dog. The other patient then came back and wanted a copy of the report Acadian was sending back to her referring doctor. This Christine again looked incredulous and said we don’t do that. The woman asked how does my doctor at the VA Hospital know what you did, and how to you get paid? Christine looked at this patient like she was stupid, and said, we bill back the VA. This woman said, ok, so what are you billing back the VA for? Christine impatiently said for what we did. Now I was incredulous, as well as this woman patient. Amazing, Acadian bills the VA but doesn’t give the VA doctor a report for what Acadian is billing the VA for. That sounds like Acadian Rehab is padding their bills to the VA.
